Archaeological Monitoring Investigation of Monitoring Well Installation

Hudson Cultural Services (as Hudson Valley Cultural Resource Consultants) completed an Archaeological Monitoring Investigation of Monitoring Well Installation for the proposed Rabbinical Seminary Project in the Town of Putnam, Putnam County, New York. The survey monitored the installation of fourteen monitoring well locations during installation, to rule out the presence of deeply buried cultural deposits.

Hudson Cultural Services completed Phase 1B Deep Testing Archaeological Survey in an area of dense overburden and deep fill. The project examined the proposed area to determine if deeply buried deposits remained intact below the fill layers. This survey was completed in advance of construction of a new building.

Hudson Cultural Services completed monitored the completion of deep and percolation tests within a parcel that has an increased sensitivity of cultural deposits. The monitoring efforts produced a report that documented areas of significant soil displacement and confirmed episodes of 19th century landscape alterations. The results of the monitoring informed the methodologies for further testing and geoprospection.
